I wrote the Never Buy a Tesla 4 years ago, which essentially a click-bait. I didn’t have any trouble with my car so I recommend it to my friends and a few of them bought a Tesla too. Not like a legit Tesla fan with a collection of Tesla swags and souvenirs, but I consider myself a Tesla fan.

4 years later, I’m doing a U-turn and distancing myself from Tesla. Reason are:

• Wouldn’t be a surprise, the owner of Tesla did quite a few crazy things recently which I do not condone
• There’s hardly any noteworthy improvements of Tesla cars in the past years – understandable for best selling brands
• Tesla tried too hard to simplify things which accidentally made driving more complicated, eg. the removal of stalks, this is a regression to me (those were brought back in latest models I believe)
• The Model 3 2021 I got has radar on it which improves safety during bad weather like heavy rain or fog. Newer models don’t have it anymore. Another regression, possibly by a drive of cost reduction
• There’s no official news re. V2L or V2X support from Tesla while V2L is factory default on BYD models
• Recently BYD announced 1MW charge rate on their new Super e-Platform, that’s twice fast as Tesla’s

Nevertheless, it’s always a good thing to have more choices.
